    Description

    Framed Original Civil War Engraving - Raising the Flag at Fort Sumter
    From 'Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper' - January 26th. 1861 Issue.
    A nicely framed original engraving from soon after the time when the event actually took place.  The chaplain invokes a blessing while Major Robert Anderson, leader of the Union force which took Fort Sumter from the Confederates, raises the stars and stripes.
    Both print and frame are in excellent condition.  The print is backed with a acid-free barrier, the mat is also acid-free.  Framed under glass, the piece is properly fitted and is ready to hang.  This actual print was the front cover illustration for the newspaper.  The top of the front dated newspaper banner is attached to the back.
