Fremont Etching, Print Publisher Johnson FRY & Co., NY, Likeness from the latest Photograph from Life.  Entered according to act of congress A.D. 1862, by Johnson FRY & Co., in the clerks office of the District Court for the Southern District of New York. (Under the Image: Painted by Alonzo Chappel)  The portrait also shows a facsimile signature below the image.
The paper measures 8 x 10 5/8 inches, the image measures 5 1/2 x 7 5/8 inches.

John Charles Frémont
or Fremont (January 21, 1813 – July 13, 1890) was an American military officer, explorer, and politician who became the first candidate of the anti-slavery Republican Party for the office of President of the United States. During the 1840s, when he led four expeditions into the American West, that era's penny press and admiring historians accorded Frémont the sobriquet The Pathfinder.
This is a vintage, authentic and original (not a photocopy, replica or facsimile) art print in etching or engraving from a rare art book, in good condition with full plate impression.  The paper has yellowed edges, and foxing spots from age.  Always refer to photos.
