    Description

Orig Antique Civil War Engraving - "Capture of propeller ship "Fanny"
Published in Frank Leslie's "Famous Leaders and Battles of the Civil War" - 1896
Title beneath image reads:  "Capture of the propeller ship "Fanny" in Pimlico Sound by three Confederate steamers while conveying men and stores to the twentieth Indiana Regiment"   (Pimlico Sound is a lagoon in the Outer Banks of North Carolina)
This illustration was originally published in Frank Leslie's Newsletter shortly after the event occurred.  All these exact same artworks were re-published after the war by Leslie's wife, after his death.  The only difference between this and the earlier publication is that these later prints are on better quality paper and haven't yellowed.
Print is in very good condition.  Clean with no stains, holes or tears but with a 1/2" of paper missing in the bottom left corner of the of the margin.  Two engraved portraits on the back side of Union Generals William Harney and Louis Blenker.
    Paper size is 10-3/8" x  15"
Note:  For a reason I can't explain, my photos of these larger engravings wind up looking wishy-washy, like watercolors!  To get a better idea of what the engraving actually looks like, I've added a scan of part of the print.  It's too big for my scanner to scan the whole image.
