Original Civil War Engraving - 'Merrimac' sinks 'Cumberland' - 1862Title:
(below image) "First naval battle in Hampton Roads between the Confederate iron-plated steamers "Merrimac", "Yorktown" and "Jamestown" and the Federal wooden sailing frigates "Cumberland" and "Congress" - sinking the "Cumberland" by a blow from the "Merrimac", Saturday, March 8th. 1862.
A nice clean and bright original print with no defects. As usual, partial images on the back side. This early print taken from Frank Leslie's Illustrated History of the Civil War.
