Original Antique Civil War PrintUS Ships 'Seminole' and 'Pocahontas' engaging the Confederate batteries at Evansport
At Evansport, Virginia, The Confederates had an artillery battery at a critical location on the Potomac River which successfully prevented supplies from reaching Washington. This illustration which first appeared in Harper's Weekly newspaper in 1961 depicts the US ships 'Seminole' and 'Pocahontas' engaged with the Confederate shore battery in an attempt to destroy it.
Print is in excellent condition. It is from 'Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War' published several years after the end of the war and using the same printing blocks used in the earlier publication.
