Description
Original Antique Civil War Engraving - Bombardment of Fort WalkerPort Royal Harbor, South Carolina, Nov. 7th. 1861
Title beneath image reads: "The Bombardment of Fort Walker, Port Royal Harbor, S.C. - View of the interior during the bombardment by the vessels of the Federal Fleet, November 7th, 1861". There's a good account of the event printed beneath the image.
A full page engraving from Harpers 'Pictorial History of the Civil War'. Very good condition. A little time-toned but no damage. There are two images on the back side - General William Harney and General Louis Blenker. In my pic of the back side it greatly exaggerates a stain in the lower left corner, where in reality, it's hardly visible. Don't understand why the camera always does this!
Image size: approx 9" x 14" Paper size: 10-3/4" x 15-1/2"
