    Description

Here is a very rare hand-colored print of the infamous Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia.  The print was published in Maryland by Benjamin L. Bowen in Maryland in 1865.  Bowen was a member of Company A, 15th R.V.R.C. (15th Regiment Veteran Reserve Corps).  The image was sketched by W.C. Schwartzburg of Company A, 24th Wisconsin Volunteers.  The print measures approx. 10 x 12" and is housed in a 13 x 15" 19th c. frame with old wavy glass.  It has been in the frame a very long time and has not been examined outside of the frame.
Condition: some fading to color and toning to paper.  Light crinkling to paper overall.  Image is good and strong. Borders are present and title, etc.
